Adult Christian Formation Committee

"Christian Formation" is the lifelong process of growing in relationship with God, self, others, and all creation. The Adult Christian Formation Committee works with our clergy and other ministries to select and schedule our adult education activities. Sample topics include spirituality, bible study, outreach, environmental stewardship, social justice, and sacred art and iconography. Always searching for new inspirations, we welcome input from parishioners.

Christ Church's Adult Christian Formation activities include Adult Forums, Studies in Christian Faith, Advent Retreat, Lenten Devotions, Bible Study, Film Series, and classes for becoming members of the Episcopal church.

Our activities include:

  • Adult Forum Series - held Sunday mornings from 11:20 am to 12:00 pm in the Murdock Room. Speakers include clergy, parish professionals, ministry leaders, as well as special guests from community organizations and academia. Please consult the church calendar for a schedule of upcoming events.
  • Studies in Christian Faith - Advent Retreats and Lenten Devotions allow for a deeper dive into a specific spiritual or philosophical topic. These special study sessions involve personal readings and weekly discussions led by an expert in the area.
  • Lenten Devotions 2021 - participants were invited to read DIGNITY, Seven Strategies for Creating Authentic Community. Author Dr. Beth-Sarah Wright kicked off a five-week study of each of the components of DIGNITY (diversity, identity, growth, nurture, integrity, transparency and yield)
  • Advent Retreat 2021 - daily readings from "A Personal Advent Retreat" of spiritual wisdom, poetry, and sacred art, and weekly Saturday discussion groups on Zoom, facilitated by Bill Thompson.
